i used to like twitter but i’m starting to feel differently because the algorithm incentivizes me to think about the same things as everyone else on there
it’s good to be tuned into the “virtual collective conscious” but I’m starting to think being tuned in all the time isn’t all that great for original thinking
we should all be generating new memes and not consuming the same ones as everyone else. the great thing about twitter is meme generation is bottom up, but there isn’t a variety of topics thanks to the algorithm
with instagram, at some point it became amply clear to me that the stimuli isn’t sustainable for the psyche. now all the smart people are leaving instagram, soon the cool people will too. for a long while i used think that twitter was invincible though. now i’m starting to see what could break it - continuously being tuned in to the collective conscious and by extension the collective unconscious is tiring and boring
i think the antidote might be to use twitter like you would instagram but to share more real and personal anecdotes
